ODHPUR: Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Monday appeared before a court, which is hearing his appeal against conviction in the black buck poaching case.
Salman, who arrived in the city on Sunday evening, presented himself before the District and Sessions Judge of Jodhpur for the hearing of the case.
The actor had failed to appear before the court several times in the past. Taking serious note of it, the court had directed him to make a personal appearance before it on Monday.
He will also present himself before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate for the hearing in another poaching case and a case under the Arms Act.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had on April 10 last year convicted Khan in the poaching case and sentenced him to five years imprisonment.
The court had also imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 on him. The actor has filed the appeal against the verdict.
The case relates to the poaching of blackbucks at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm on September 28, 1998. Chinkara is a protected animal under the Wild Life Protection Act.
Salman has also been sentenced to one-year imprisonment in another poaching case of Bhawad and has filed an appeal against that decision also.
The Rajasthan government has also filed an appeal for the enhancement of the sentence and that appeal is pending before the Rajasthan High Court.
Actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam are co-accused in the poaching case in Kankani.
